In December 1895, UNESCO included Segovia and its Roman aqueduct in its list of World Heritage Cities. The beauty of its location, its environment, its buildings, trees and streets are among the reasons based on which the decision was made.

Segovia is rich in historical monuments, emphasizing its majestic Roman aqueduct from the time of Augustus, the Gothic Cathedral, and the eleventh-century Alcazar, ancient fortified residence of the Kings of Castile. It inspired Walt Disney to design his castle Wonderland.

Segovia is also famous for its cuisine (roast suckling pig and lamb) desserts, and excellent wine.

Segovia takes pride in a perfectly preserved Roman aqueduct in the middle of the old town surrounded by 3km of stone medieval city walls – the most important and best preserved example of Roman engineering on the whole of the Iberian Peninsula.
The city´s architecture has been influenced by three great civilisations: Christian, Jewish and Muslim.
